Please join us for a dynamic screening event in conjunction with the UMMA exhibition of Changing Hands: Art Without Reservation 3 on view until September 14, 2014.

Robert's Paintings (2011, Canada, 52 min) directed by visual artist and filmmaker Shelley Niro, examines the life and career of artist, curator, educator and cultural theorist Robert Houle. Niro’s beautiful and compelling documentary paints an intimate portrait of this hugely influential and important artist, widely recognized for his role in the recovery and re-contextualization of Canadian Indigenous heritage through art. The film's director Shelley Niro is a Mohawk member of the Six Nations of the Grand River and belongs to the Turtle Clan. Her work is also featured in the UMMA exhibition of Changing Hands: Art Without Reservation 3.
