Carlene Carter, daughter of June Carter from her marriage to country star Carl Smith, has been perhaps the most fearless member of the Carter clain. In the late 1970s and early 1980s she lived in London, married rocker Nick Lowe, and recorded some fabulous and underrated fusions of country and New Wave. A decade later she emerged at the top of the American country scene with zippy hits like "I Fell in Love." Now Carlene is back with "Carter Girl," a marvelous tribute that treats the songs of the Carter Family as continuously growing pieces of American music. Said NPR in its rave review: "She doesn't approach these old songs as sacred relics to be enshrined with pious respect. Rather, she treats them like living, vital pieces of art that can withstand being taken apart, thought about and re-imagined." We're proud to welcome this member of country music's first family in her debut Ark appearance.
