Nessa is a Detroit area ensemble led by Kelly McDermott. McDermott is classically trained with three degrees in flute performance, two of them advanced degrees from Temple University in Philadelphia. Nessa’s music reflects McDermott’s deep passion for rediscovering and rearranging old Celtic and European folk songs, along with clever, soulful arrangements of classical themes. Nessa’s combination of classical, jazz, and Celtic influences with accents of world music and soul is quite unique. This fun, funky ensemble has depth and color and includes some of southeastern Michigan’s finest players: Kelly McDermott on vocals and flute; Rob Crozier on bass, guitar, percussion and vocals; and David Mosher on guitar, mandolin, fiddle and vocals.
