Boise-born and Boston-based Eilen (rhymes with feelin') Jewell calls herself "nothing but a lonely rambler girl." The Los Angeles Daily News describes Eilen this way: "Sometimes as darkly damaged as Lucinda Williams, at others as defiant and teasing as prime Peggy Lee and always authentically Americana in the Gillian Welch tradition ... She's mighty good." Here's a young artist who connects with the roots of country, blues and rock without losing herself or descending into mannerism. After giving birth to a daughter, Mavis (named for Mavis Staples), in 2014, Eilen returns to Michigan with music for a new studio album, her first since 2011's "Queen of the Minor Key."
