Joy A.J. Howard, is an early Americanist with a literary studies background. She is a Clements Library Upton Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow using the materials at the Clements Library to complete her book on the life and discursive communities of Rebecca Kellogg Ashley, an Indian captive turned interpreter in the 18th century.
