The Crisis: A 15 year Retrospective
Mr. Melvin Mitchel is President & CEO of Bryant & Bryant Architects & Planners, Inc - a 40 year-old firm based in Washington D.C. Prior to assuming the presidency of BM, PLLC, he was owner-principal of Melvin Mitchell Architects (established in 1972).
Mitchel is a former architecture professor at Howard University, former Director of the School of Architecture & Planning at Morgan State University, and was past president of the Washington D.C. Board of Architecture. Mitchel is the author of the critically acclaimed book, The Crisis of the African American Architect, and obtained his B.Arch. in 1967 from Howard University and his M.Arch. in 1970 from Harvard Graduate School of Design.
