POCKET HEALTHCARE: THE PROMISE & CHALLENGES OF MOBILE HEALTH
Predrag “Pedja” Klasnja, Assistant Professor School of Information & School of Public Health, U-M
Mobile phones are becoming an increasingly important platform for the delivery of health interventions. Phones are used to encourage physical activity and healthy diets, to monitor symptoms of asthma, heart disease, and chemotherapy side effects, and to send patients reminders to take medications and to attend appointments. Prof. Klasnja will discuss why mobile phones are well suited for creation of innovative and effective health interventions, the types of interventions that have been tried so far, and the challenges involved in making mobile health an integral part of healthcare delivery.
Dr. Klasnja works at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction and Health Informatics, investigating how new technologies can help individuals to effectively manage their health in everyday life.
