The daughter of Hank Williams, Jr. and granddaughter of Hank Williams, Holly Williams released her debut album, "The Ones We Never Knew" (Universal South), in 2004. She recently released her third, "The Highway," on which she wrote or co-wrote all the music, and 2015 Folk Festival audiences may have gotten their first look at this newest member of a great American musical family. It looks as though she's inherited the writing gene! Hailed by American Songwriter as a “sophisticated, introspective singer/songwriter,” Holly says, “I think every artist has their coming of age record. This one definitely feels like mine in that there was such a shift with me through the process of this record. It was completed in exactly nine months to the day, feeling somewhat like a birth." Speaking of which, Holly recently had her first child, so there's another generation on the way. Her songs land in a sweet spot between country and Americana. There's no mistaking that old lonesome sound in her knife-edged voice, but she tells stories of characters who'd be more likely to appear in music by John Prine or Bruce Springsteen than in Hank Williams Jr. Holly is the owner of H. Audrey, a designer women's boutique in Nashville.
