Music with Dance is the culmination of a year-long series of recitals performed by Erika Boysen (D.M.A. candidate, Flute Performance) dedicated to interdisciplinary collaborations across the musical, literary, visual, media, and choreographic arts. This final recital features music with media-based arts and dance; commissioned choreography, original video art, and lighting design combine to provide multiple entry points into the musical landscape.
The repertoire includes Marin Marais’ Les Folies d'Espagna, Toru Takemitsu’s Air, Astor Piazzolla’s Tango Etude No. 4, Oliver Knussen’s Masks, Jacob TV’s Lipstick for flute, alto flute and boombox, and concludes with Greg Patillo’s Three Beats for beatboxing flute. The performance features the work of choreographers Jessica Post and Marcus White, video artist Eric Sheffield, and lighting designer Rebecca Kephart. Professor Christian Matijas- Mecca who served as a creative advisor to the project.
