History, Inheritance, and Transition of Chinese Qin Music since the 20th Century

Since the turn of the 20th century, China has gone through many significant changes that deeply impacted people’s lives, ranging from its political system, economic system, arts and culture to people's behavioral norms and moral codes. Since 1949, Qin music, one of the traditional Chinese classical music genres, was also faced with many changes and challenges, and its path to survival was turbulent.
Professor Zhang will present the history, inheritance and transition of the ancient Chinese art of Qin since the turn of the 20th century; it will include Qin societies and Relevant Activities in the Period of the Republic of China; The history of Qin and Study on Qin after 1949; and Influence of Social Transformation and Culture Changes in Qin music since the 20th century.
