Iowa City artist Sara Slee Brown focuses on using images of natural beauty and man-made buildings to create imaginary scenarios that give rise to possibilities outside of everyday experience. Using the computer as her medium, she digitally combines photographic images and original artwork. She then makes digital prints and layers them onto canvas with acrylic varnish. The resulting surface is more paint than print, revealing the artist’s hand upon the work. Brown holds a BFA from the U-M Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design and an MFA in Painting from the University of Iowa School of Art.
