Beauty and the "Beasts"
How Native Plants in Home Landscapes Feed Eyes and Ecosystems
Date: 5/19/2015
Time: 7 pm to 9 pm
Native plants have evolved to withstand sub-zero temperatures, summer heat, drought, and insect predation, all without being watered, fertilized, or sprayed. And, unlike exotic species, natives form the foundation of the food chain, supporting insect populations which directly or indirectly feed most other animals. Drew Lathin, a landscaper and NAP volunteer, will present how a native plant-friendly approach can save time, money, and water; eliminate use of chemicals; and create beautiful wildlife habitat at home. Free. Hosted by Matthaei Botanical Gardens & Nichols Arboretum and presented by Sierra Club Huron Valley Group.
