Cost: $16/per person for transportation. Tours of the Capitol and Historical Museum are free. Students, scholars, friends, and families are welcome. The price is the same for all participants, regardless of age. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Register: In order to reserve your spot for this trip, you must sign up and pay in advance by the deadline at the front desk of the International Center on Central Campus. Cash only and exact change is appreciated, thank you! A UMID must be presented by the person purchasing the tickets. Limited space is available.
Meeting location and time: please be on time! Participants may choose to board the bus from either Central Campus or North Campus at one of the locations designated below. Upon our return, participants may choose to be dropped off at Central or North Campus locations. Pick-up Location Meeting Time Central Campus: International Center (603 East Madison St) Noon North Campus: corner of Bonisteel Blvd and Murfin Ave 12:20pm Please Note: The bus will depart the North Campus location at 12:30pm for Lansing.
Event Description: Come learn about Michigan's history and state government in the state capital, Lansing. Experience a guided tour of Michigan's State Capitol building, built in 1879 and beautifully restored in the 1990s. Guides explain the history of the building, the legislative process, and state government. Tours include visits to the House and Senate galleries. The Michigan Historical Museum offers five levels of permanent and changing exhibits that tell the story of Michigan's past. Exhibits include interactive computers, audio-visual presentations and hands-on elements.
We will not be stopping for lunch, so eat before or bring a lunch to eat on the bus. Here's the itinerary for the day:
Self-guided tour of the Michigan Historical Museum: 2 to 3pm Guided tour of the capitol starts at 3:30pm (approximately one hour)
