OneMichigan is a student organization that works to bring together the campus community for a one day celebration of the service done throughout the year at the University of Michigan. The OneMichigan Service Celebration exists to recognize the amazing service done by student organizations, students, faculty, and staff on the University of Michigan campus.
The Celebration Day on April 9th will allow students to see a wide range of community service organizations on campus, as well as "test drive" those organizations by participating in various miniature service projects (called "Service Snap-Shots") organized throughout the day.
Scheduled service events:
*K-grams: personalize cards to a pen pal! Write a letter to an elementary student that they recieve the day of Kids' Fair (april 16th) or help with decorations for the event. On-campus: Union, 11 am-1 pm
*Zeta Sigma Chi: In collaboration with the Ronald McDonald House, students will bebakind goodies to donate. Oxford Housing: Transportation is provided 1-3pm
*Alpha Phi Omega (APO): In the Tap room of the Union, you can join APO members stitch mittens that will go to underprivledged communities next winter. No prior sewing knowledge necessary! 2:30 to 4:30 pm
*WILL WORK FOR FOOD: Sort/pack/organize food at the Food Gatherers' Warehouse. Transportation Provided. 3-5 pm
*Blood Drives United (Blood Battle): Sign up to donate blood!! School of Education Blood Drive running all day until 4 pm!
*Alternative Weekends: Protest wage discrimation based on race, gender and national origin. Meet at the cube at 5:45. Transportation will be provided to Andiamo Restaurant in Dearborn (21400 Michigan Avenue) approximately 5:45-9 pm
*Circle K: (Success by Six) This is a progam that has a mission to prepare all children in Washtenaw County for school by the age of 5 or 6. Volunteers will be hleping prepare materials and in setting up an event later that night for members of the Ann Arbor community. Meet at the Cube 10 am-12 pm
*Circle K: (MAC WORKDAY) Michigan Abilities Center is a therapeutic horse riding center for children with mental and/or physical disabilities. Volunteers will be helping with the up-keep of the facilities that go on everyday. Meet at the cube. 2 sessions: 10 am-1 pm, and 1 pm-4 pm
*Circle K: (Make a Child Smile) Volunteers will be making cards for children to make them smile while undergoing their treatement and hospital stays. DIAG: 12:30 to 2:30 pm
