Kerrytown District Self-Guided Tour & Lunch
Event description: Join us for a self-guided tour of the Kerrytown District, a very interesting part of Ann Arbor. The land on which Kerrytown stands was part of the original village of Ann Arbor. Three historic buildings, the oldest built in 1874, were once the site of the workingman's trades lumber, warehousing, feed and grain. Today Kerrytown is a lively marketplace. Kerrytown is named after County Kerry, Ireland, the ancestral home to the family of the developer of Kerrytown.
One highlight of this neighborhood is the Ann Arbor Farmers' Market, an open-air marketplace which features locally grown food, plants, prepared food items, and crafts, all sold by the people who grow them or make them.
The group will have lunch together at Zingerman's (422 Detroit St). Zingerman's is a nationally known deli (delicatessen) which opened in March of 1982 in an historic building near the Ann Arbor Farmers' Market. Today, Zingerman's is an Ann Arbor institution everyone in Ann Arbor should go to Zingerman's at least once! Please wear comfortable shoes and bring money for shopping and lunch.
