SPICMACAY - University of Michigan Chapter is back with its next event; this time a visual treat in the ancient and popular traditional Indian classical dance forms, Bharatnatyam and Kuchipudi. We would like to invite you to our upcoming event, Nrityopahara, a collage of solo Indian classical dance presentations featuring Dr. Ananda Shankar Jayant.
Dr. Jayant is an acclaimed Bharatnatyam and Kuchipudi dancer and is an awardee of Padma Shri (India's 4th Highest Civilian Honor) and the prestigious Sangeet Natak Academy Award.

About: This event is organized by SPICMACAY or the Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth at the University of Michigan, that aims at promoting an understanding of the richness and depth of the Indian culture through the showcase of Indian classical arts by organizing performances by inviting Indian artists from across the globe.
Artist Bio: Dr. Ananda Shankar Jayant is a well known Indian classical dancer, performing the two dance styles of Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi. She is also a two time national awardee having received the Padmashri ( The 4th highest civilian award of India) and the Sangeet Natak Akademi (India's apex cultural body ) award for Bharatanatyam. She is also a TED speaker, with a much viewed and highly rated talk
