Plainsong was originally a British country rock / folk rock band, formed in early 1972 by Ian (later Iain) Matthews, formerly of Fairport Convention ; Andy Roberts, previously of The Liverpool Scene; Dave Richards; and Bob Ronga. Since the early 1990s, Matthews and Roberts have intermittently performed and recorded together, with other musicians, as Plainsong. Since they re-formed, Plainsong has released nine albums that combine classic English sounds with new material and recapture the country tinge that led to the original band's "Fairport Convention Goes to Nashville" moniker. Their latest, recently released, is “Reinventing Richard: The Songs of Richard Farina."
