Following tours to Russia in 1961, Europe in both 1971 and 1984, the international reputation of the UM Symphony Band expands with its upcoming tour to China. This evening’s repertoire reviews music inspired by the communist Soviet regime as well as China’s oldest customs. John William’s themes from “Star Wars” illustrates that music is indeed an international language.
