Opening Exhibit Reception: "Swallowed Whole: A Visual Journey Through Traumatic Injury and Recovery"
Heidi Kumao
Heidi Kumao's solo exhibition, "Swallowed Whole: A Visual Journey Through Traumatic Injury and Recovery," will be on display in Lane Hall Gallery at U-M Institute for Research on Women and Gender and Women’s Studies Department, Sept. 1 – Dec. 9, 2016. The exhibition consists of large-scale staged photographs and video, all of which draw upon the artist’s experiences with a broken back and cancer treatment in 2011-12. Combining humor and stark imagery, the work playfully embraces the absurdity and isolation that accompanied these medical traumas.
Reception: Wed. Oct. 19, 4:30-6 pm, Lane Hall, 204 S. State St., Ann Arbor, MI
