Marketing/Ad/PR Career Track: Integrating Your Passion into an Advertising Career with U-M Alumna Brianne Johnson
How do you integrate passion into your career? How do you choose an advertising agency that will work with clients that align with your interests? Hear from U-M Alumna Brianne Johnson about her story and how she integrated her passion for social justice into an advertising career. Brianne will be joining us virtually, but all students will meet at the University Career Center to join the video call together.
Brianne Johnson has always wanted to be a storyteller—and as GMMB's assistant account executiveof branding, she gets to tell stories that matter. Since joining the cause communications agency in January 2016, Brianne has crafted messaging meant to inspire public library leaders; produced a Huffington Post blog postadvocating safe medicine storage on behalf of her clients; and ensured that every one of her clients' deliverables is on time and on budget. Brianne’s current and past clients include: the CHPA Educational Foundation, PATH, Chemonics International, the Micronutrient Initiative, Catholic ReliefServices, Cipla BioTec, the Lumina Foundation, MyChange and the Public Library Association.
Brianne comes to GMMB by way of Morning Consult, where she assisted the media and polling start-up’s communications and business development practices. Prior to joining Morning Consult, Brianne graduated from the University of Michigan with degrees in Communication Studies, Women’s Studies and English. For five years, Brianne served in various roles at award-winning student newspaper The Michigan Daily, including as astaff writer, senior arts editor and the paper’s first managing editor ofsocial media. She has also interned with progressive nonprofits the National Women’s Law Center and 826michigan, and lived out her values as a leadership team member of the University’s Michigan Active Citizens Alternative Spring Break program. And when she's not helping you refresh your organization's brand, Brianne can be found analyzing pop culture to the annoyance of her friends.
