Panel Discussion on the Ongoing Economic Recession
Three panelists will discuss (from a socialist perspective) how the economic recession is impacting students and workers. Jake McLouth, an undergraduate student of history at UM, will be moderating the discussion.
The three panelists are:
(i) Brett Ward (to speak about the impact of the crisis on workers). [Brett Ward is a materials handler at Chrysler's assembly plant in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Ward is a member of "Soldiers of Solidarity", an organization initiated by rank and file members of the United Auto Workers (UAW).]
(ii) Skipper Hammond (to speak about the economic crisis and its relationship to the health care crisis). [Skipper Hammond is an activist living in Ann Arbor. She is a member of the socialist, democratic feminist organization, "Solidarity"]; and
(iii) Jonathan Seid, former UM School of Information student (to speak about the economic crisis and its relationship to tuition increases in public higher education)
