"Health at Every Size" Presentation with Dr. Linda Bacon
Surprising Truths about Weight
On Wednesday, October 6, University Health Service at the University of Michigan will welcome Linda Bacon, PhD. to speak about her latest research from her book "Health at Every Size; The Surprising Truth about Your Weight". In her groundbreaking work, Bacon challenges the idea of an “obesity epidemic” and offers a compelling thesis on why we are the weight we are and how to maximize our physical and emotional well-being.
Dr. Bacon asserts that “Fat isn't the problem. Dieting is the problem. A society that rejects anyone whose body shape or size doesn't match the impossible ideal is the problem. A medical establishment that equates “thin” with “healthy” is the problem.”
The talk is free and open to the public. It will be held at 7 p.m., in the Rackham Auditorium on the University of Michigan campus.
