A Performance of Newly Composed Classical Japanese Oboe/Piano Duos
On Saturday, June 10th at 5 pm in Stamps Auditorium, Dr. Matthew Thompson, recipient of a 2017-2018 CJS Faculty Research Grant to record a disc of classical Japanese oboe/piano duos, will present a live concert of these works. The oboist is recent alumnus Dr. Alex Hayashi. The music is in a wide variety of styles and is also notable for containing a number of pieces composed by women, whose work is underrepresented throughout classical music. Music by: Kawanaka, Hayashi, Yamashita, Konishi, Yoshida, Nishimura, and Ohmasa. The recital will be just over an hour in length. Please join us for this event!
