Stand up! Speak out!: Strategizing to Overcome Legal Discrimination Against LGBT Families in Michigan

A discussion featuring renowned Human Rights lawyer Deborah Labelle and Jay Kaplan, staff attorney for the Michigan ACLU LGBT Project.

In 2008, the Michigan Supreme Court upheld a lower court's ruling that Proposal 2, passed by Michigan votes in 2004, prohibits public employers from offering domestic partner benefits thereby enshrining legal discrimination into our state law. Our speakers will discuss the pros and cons of the different legal strategies being considered for challenging this injustice. Monday February 15th, 2010: 7:00p.m.
