The Clash of Science and Politics in Water Policy
The Honorable Lana Pollack, International Joint Comission Co-Chair
In June 2010, President Barack Obama appointed the Honorable Lana Pollack to be co-chair of the International Joint Commission, a U. S. and Canadian institution established by the Boundary Waters Treaty of 1909. Ms. Pollack is responsible for ensuring that any conflict over shared waters be dealt with in a cooperative manner.
She will speak to the U of M community about the often contentious clash between science and politics in managing shared waters.
