JPL is a research facility that carries out robotic space and Earth science missions. Staffed and managed for NASA by Caltech, we have sent spacecraft to all planets in the solar system and created all four rovers that have explored Mars. The laboratory conducts programs in Earth science and space-based astronomy. JPL has 19 spacecraft and 10 instruments currently carrying out missions.
