The 22nd annual DeVries-Vanderkooy Memorial lecture will be given by Gea Sijpkes, CEO of Humanitas Deventer, a long-term elderly care facility in the Netherlands. She will discuss her nationally and internationally acclaimed housing initiative where students and the elderly live together under one roof. In exchange for free housing, students in the Dutch town of Deventer become roommates and good neighbors, with financial, social, and emotional benefits for all. Five years in, the co-housing program's pragmatic and innovative thinking is breaking down walls for a more inclusive society.
