Event Description: Meadow Brook Hall is often described as an American castle. It is the fourth largest historic house museum in the United States and is renowned for its superb craftsmanship, architectural detailing and grand scale. Built between 1926 and 1929 as the residence of Matilda Dodge Wilson (widow of auto pioneer John Dodge) and her second husband, lumber broker Alfred G. Wilson. The 110-room, 88,000-square-foot, Tudor-revival style mansion is complete with vast collections of original art and furnishings.

Most of the gardens (total 14) at Meadow Brook Hall were largely the work of Arthur Davidson, an English landscape architect, who in 1928 was commissioned to create a master plan for the estate. His preliminary drawing was an elaborate plan with many variations of garden styles. Although many of the gardens were not realized, the landscape at Meadow Brook Hall exemplifies an artistic movement that combined wealth, architecture, art and nature.

Join us as we tour the Hall museum and enjoy a leisurely stroll through the gardens. Bring money for the gift shop, dress for the weather, and wear comfortable shoes for walking!

Visit their web site for more information on Meadow Brook Hall.

Lunch Menu: roast breast of chicken, mushroom cream sauce, wild rice blend and seasonable vegetable. We will have apple pie for dessert. Artisan dinner roll and butter, fresh coffee and hot tea are also included. A vegetarian lunch will also be available. If you would like the vegetarian lunch, please indicate on the sign-up sheet that you are a vegetarian when you register for the trip.
