Dr. David Olson (founder of Swift Biosciences and more) will describe:
What it’s like to create and work at a small biotech company
What functions and roles are involved
What a “dayin the life” looks like
What kinds of skills and experiences are required and what students can do while on campus to obtain those skills and experiences

Plus, he plans to share 3 things he wishes he’d known about biotech while he was a student and 3 Do’s and Don’ts for a career inbiotech. This is a chance to get your questions answered by an industry insider!

Dr. Olson has co-founded six biotech start-ups, managed other early-stage businesses, and authored business plans backed by more than $61M in capital. Most recently he was co-founder and CEO of Swift Biosciences Inc. where he led the creation, funding and development of the companyfor six years. During that time, Swift invented and brought to market multiple new technologies for genetic analysis and next generation sequencing. Prior to Swift, Dr. Olson was a founding member of Accuri Cytometers Inc. (acquired by Becton Dickinson in 2011), where he was responsible for creating Accuri’s product vision and played a central role in all aspects of corporate strategy. Dr. Olson received his doctorate in Molecular Biology from Princeton University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. He is now a mentor-in-residence with the U-M Office of Technology Transfer.
