Title: Ergonomics at Toyota
Bio: Marisol Barrero has worked for Toyota Motor North America (Georgetown, KY) as an ergonomist in the Production Engineering Division's Safety Group for close to 11 years. Currently she manages the North American manufacturing ergonomics program. She develops and supports tools, standards, and procedures for use across Toyota's 15 North American manufacturing facilities. Marisol has also worked as an ergonomics consultant with Humantech and Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group, as well as a researcher with NIOSH. She received her B.A. and M.S. from Cornell University. She has been a Certified Professional Ergonomist since 2006.
Abstract: This presentation will show an overview of Toyota Motor North America's manufacturing operations and describe the important role that ergonomics plays across all sites. The basics of the company-wide ergonomics system will be illustrated, namely risk identification and risk management. Key challenges to the implementation of ergonomics will be noted, as well as strategies to ensure its success.
