FREE "He Named Me Malala" Film Screening
Girl Up Michigan is hosting a FREE film screening of the 2015 documentary "He Named Me Malala" by Davis Guggenheim as part of our advocacy efforts as a local chapter of Girl Up, a United Nations Foundation.
The documentary follows the events leading up to the Taliban's attack on Malala Yousafzai and the after-effects of that attack, including Malala's continued activist work and her speech to the United Nations. Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani activist known for her human rights advocacy, especially education of women in Pakistan where, in her village, the local Taliban had at times banned girls from attending school. Her advocacy has now grown into an international movement and Malala has become the youngest Nobel Prize laureate to date!
