The Anicka Yi presentation scheduled to take place on Thursday, January 11 has been canceled. 

Anicka Yi is a New York City based conceptual artist whose work is grounded in scent, tactility, and perishability. Winner of the 2016 Hugo Boss Prize presented by the Guggenheim, Yi is interested in communicating with audiences through visceral sensory experiences, often using fragrance as a way to expand traditionally visual artist/audience dichotomies. Her installations, which draw on scientific concepts and techniques to activate vivid fictional scenarios, ask incisive questions about human psychology and the workings of society. Yi uses unconventional materials to examine what she calls “a bio-politics of the senses,” or how assumptions and anxieties related to gender, race, and class shape physical perception. Recent institutional solo exhibitions of her work include the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York; Fridericianum, Kassel; Kunsthalle Basel; List Visual Arts Center, Cambridge, Massachusetts; The Kitchen, New York; and The Cleveland Museum of Art. Yi has screened her film, The Flavor Genome, at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam in 2017. She is represented by 47 Canal, New York.
