Discussion lead by, Steve Hamilton, of the Michigan State University W.K. Kellogg Biological Station and Andrew Maynard of the University of Michigan School of Public Health.
Recent oil spills have made the risks of oil extraction and use to our aquatic ecosystems very clear. What are the results of these accidents and how do they affect us? What can be done to reduce the risks in the future? Are there realistic alternatives? We will discuss these issues on both local and global level.
Science Cafés are an opportunity to discuss science topics with experts in an informal setting and a local establishment. Hors d'oeuvres at 5:30 are followed by a brief presentation at 6:00pm, then by discussion. Everyone is welcome and invited to purchase additional food and beverages. Participants must be 21 to purchase alcoholic beverages.
