“The Whole School Became Their Gallery”: A public school-public humanities partnership

Anne M. Valk is Associate Director of Brown University's John Nicholas Brown Center for Public Humanities and Cultural Heritage and author of Radical Sisters: Second Wave Feminism and Black Liberation in Washington D.C. She has worked on community oral history projects in the Midwest and the South, examining experiences of immigration, industrialization and deindustrialization, and racial segregation. In this presentation she will discuss an initiative undertaken by students from Brown's Public Humanities program and a local elementary school, using neighborhood history as the basis for creative writing, museum studies, and documentary projects.

Please RSVP and email any questions to Joanna Frye at jrfrye@umich.edu
