On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, MLibrary welcomes Dr. Bertice Berry, an award-winning entertainer, lecturer and comedian.
Dr. Berry has won a national Comedian of the Year award, and has been featured on many television shows, such as “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” and “20/20.” Before becoming a full-time entertainer, she was a popular Kent State teacher who effectively used humor to frame serious topics such as racism and sexism. She has been recognized with the awards of Campus Lecturer of the Year and Campus Entertainer of the Year. Dr. Berry has also written several books, both fiction and non-fiction. Her most recent title is an intimate family history, "The Ties That Bind."
Dr. Berry will be speaking in the Michigan Union Rogel Ballroom at 2:30pm on Monday, January 17th. Video of her talk will be streamed live to the Hatcher Library Gallery (Room 100) and Room 1180 at the Duderstadt Center. This event is free and open to the public.
Cosponsored by University Library, University Housing, Bentley Historical Library, Law Library, and the School of Information.
