Confronting Life’s Greatest Mystery
The Ultimate Personal Experience: Death
This Mystery is one we rarely speak of and one that everyone faces: our death. Using Sarah Davidson’s book, The December Project: An Extraordinary Rabbi and a Skeptical Seeker Confront Life’s Greatest Mystery and classroom discussion we will explore the ideas that Rabbi Schachter-Shalomi shares with Sara in two years of visits. “When you can feel in your cells that you’re coming to the end of your tour of duty, what is the spiritual work of this time, and how do we prepare for the mystery?” For the first class, read chapters 1 – 4 with a focus on chapter 2: “What if it ends in Nothing?” and Exercises 1 & 2, (p. 168 – 171).
This study group for those 50 and above will meet on Wednesdays, 9:30-11, from September 26 through October 31. Instructor: Abby Wilson
