Dr. Ayanian has served since 2012 as the inaugural Director of the U-M Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation, which includes over 500 faculty from 14 U-M schools and colleges. He is also the Alice Hamilton Professor of Medicine. He previously served as Professor of Medicine and Health Care Policy at Harvard Medical School and the Harvard School of Public Health. He is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine.

In this presentation, Dr. Ayanian will review the controversial history of the Affordable Care Act over the past decade (“Obamacare” and now “Trumpcare”), the role that health care issues played in the 2018 election in Michigan and the nation, and what to expect in health policy from the new Governor and legislature in Michigan and the new Congress in Washington, DC.

This is the fifth in OLLI’S distinguished lecture series for 2018-19. A total of ten lectures will be presented covering a variety of topics.
