Description:
Twice as many African-American babies die before their first birthdays than Caucasian American babies.
Native-Americans and Hispanic Americans are more likely to die from diabetes than Caucasian Americans.
African-American women and children are more likely to be obese than Caucasian American woman and children.
Why do such health disparities exist? Are they due to poor biology/genetics, poor medical care, poor social circumstances, or something else?
We will discuss the determinants of these disparities and also discuss how physicians fit into the picture.
