Event Description: The St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Russia's oldest symphonic ensemble, was founded in 1882. The St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra has performed in Ann Arbor six times, most under Yuri Temirkanov’s leadership. Pianist Nikolai Lugansky, winner of the 1994 Tchaikovsky Piano Competition, makes his UMS debut. A Russian newspaper said of his performance in the final round of competition: "It was like getting sunstroke, a musical shock. Nobody could imagine that the soul of this unpretentious, modest young man, with his ascetic, but also poetic appearance, held such a volcano inside with inspired and resolute control."
Deadline: Thursday, March 17
Register: In order to reserve your ticket for this event, you must sign up and pay in advance by the deadline at the front desk of the International Center (IC) on Central Campus. Cash only and exact change is appreciated. A valid UMID must be presented by the student purchasing the ticket(s). Each student is allowed to purchase two tickets. Limited space is available.
Meeting time, location and tickets: On Saturday, April 2nd please arrive between 7:15pm to 7:30pm at the IC on Central Campus to receive your ticket. Tickets will not be available until this time. The group will leave the IC at 7:30pm to walk over to the event location. Please be on time!
