Changes in the Codex Represented in the Exhibit "Historical Bookbindings: A Thousand Years of Structure and Style"

Julia Miller, Book Conservator and Guest Curator, will present "Changes in the Codex Represented in the Exhibit 'Historical Bookbindings: A Thousand Years of Structure and Style.'" The presentation will draw on selected bindings in the exhibit to illustrate changes in the codex, moving from early historical bindings representing well-documented styles to later bindings representing styles that are just beginning to be identified and described by scholars. Power-point images will provide the basis of the presentation; after the lecture attendees will be encouraged to discuss the bindings with the presenter in the adjacent Audubon Room.

Allow time to view the corresponding exhibit, "Historical Bookbindings: A Thousand Years of Structure and Style."
