Khun Chang Khun Phaen: The translation of a Thai folk epic

Join us in the Shapiro Library for a presentation by translators Chris Baker and Pasuk Phongpaichit, followed by a book sale and book signing. The Thai classic "The Tale of Khun Chang Khun Phaen" blends tragedy and comedy with romance in a non-stop adventure of love, war, infidelity, betrayal and the supernatural. The ultimate love triangle, "The Tale of Khun Chang Khun Phaen" evolved from a folktale preserved in the oral tradition into an epic poem widely considered to be a cornerstone of classical Thai Literature. This is the first time it has been translated into English.

Free and open to all. After the presentation, you are invited to attend a related Translation Workshop in the Area Programs Reference Room of the Hatcher Graduate Library.

Co-sponsored by University Library and the Center for Southeast Asian Studies.
