CUPSI Workshop by John Whittier-Ferguson
Poetry of Revolutions
In this workshop, we'll spend a little time with a sampling of poems from the past two centuries that are about or are associated with social and political revolutions. Poetry can chronicle and incite and bear witness to social change in ways that are importantly different from newspapers, propaganda pieces, political pamphlets, and other public documents. We'll try and get into some of these differences and we'll work on figuring out what kinds of things poetry has to offer to people in times of political and social challenge.
