I'm in the U.S. Now, So Why Isn't My English Getting Better?: Understanding and Avoiding a Language “Plateau”
Cost: Free, but pre-registration is required. Registration opens on Monday May 16th at 9am and closes when it is full: http://icworkshopfridayjune3.eventbrite.com
Event description: It's common for international students and scholars who come to the U.S. to expect to be “fluent” in English by the time they return home. However, many are surprised and disappointed to find that their English hasn't developed as much as they had hoped (even though they use English every day for school or work!). This workshop examines why language ability tends to “plateau” quickly no matter how long you spend in a foreign country, and provides steps and strategies you can take right now to break through that barrier.
Workshop Presentation: Be advised that the workshop presentation will not be provided at the workshop. So please remember to print and bring them with you to the workshop so you can follow the presentation. If you have questions about the presentation, please save your questions for the workshop.
