The Latin inscriptions in the Kelsey Museum tell us about life in the Roman world. From tombstones to monumental inscriptions, discover more about the people memorialized and the people who commissioned the inscriptions. You’ll also pick up a little Latin and learn to translate the most common elements of these inscriptions.

A number of the inscriptions are located on the stairwell. If you are a person who cannot use the stairs, please let us know so that we can arrange for a tour that best accommodates you.
