It was inevitable, perhaps—creative musical friends find other creative musical friends and can’t resist creating music together. Out of the heart of the Midwest, two veteran Michigan duos join forces in a new quartet/quintet: Diamonds in the Rust. In what began simply as an idea to tour together, Annie & Rod Capps and Jan Krist & Jim Bizer (along with percussionist/composer Alan Finkbeiner) have formed a new band. With each member already well known for performing prowess, the new group promises to be that much more. Everyone sings, everyone plays multiple instruments, and the band boasts a trio of respected, award-winning songwriters. The repertoire also includes a few choice selections from the rich musical history of the place where they grew and learned their craft. Perhaps best of all is the palpable joy and camaraderie that happens between good musicians who are also good friends.
