Social Security Number Application or Letter of Ineligibility
Representatives from the Ann Arbor Social Security office will help international students, scholars, and their dependents who are affiliated with U-M apply for a social security number and card or for a “letter of ineligibility”. Please arrive at the time specified.
Applying for a Social Security Number and Card lists the documents you must bring to the session. There are different requirements for the social security number application and for the application for the Letter of Ineligibility. Please read the information that applies to you several days in advance so that you will have time to gather or prepare the documents you will need.
If you plan to take the Driver's License Written Test, read What to Bring to the On-Campus Michigan Driver's License Written Test for information about the documents you should bring to the test.
Registration is highly recommended and you only need to register for one time slot. The one in the morning tends to have fewer people so the wait time is shorter.
This workshop is co-sponsored by the Social Security Administration.
