Neanderthals Are Us?

Have you ever suspected that the people you know are related to Neanderthals? Are you? How did early human populations interact with Neanderthal populations, and what is the evidence? More broadly, how do scientists study issues of this type in human evolution? How should these studies be communicated to the public and translated for public education? Join Professor of Anthropology and Curator of Archaeology John Speth and Professor of Anthropology and Research Scientist Milford Wolpoff as they discuss new archaeological, fossil, and genetic evidence for how these ancient peoples lived, interacted, and likely interbred, and much more.

Science Cafés are an opportunity to discuss science topics with experts in an informal setting. Hors d’oeuvres at 5:30 are followed by a brief presentation at 6:00 pm, then by discussion. Everyone is welcome and invited to purchase additional food and beverages. Participants must be 21 to purchase alcoholic beverages.
