Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s Faustrecht der Freiheit (known alternately as “Fox and His Friends” or “Fist-Right of Freedom”) tells the story of a working-class gay man named Franz Biberkopf (played by Fassbinder himself) who wins the lottery and falls in love with the son of a wealthy industrialist. Fassbinder’s 1975 film is a dark tale of queer love, money, and class relations in 1970’s West Germany.
