As writing developed in Mesopotamia, stamp seals, cylinder seals, and cuneiform tablets served as symbols and as communication devices. On this 30-minute tour, explore the Kelsey Museum’s collection and learn about the development of the cuneiform writing system. These objects span over 4,000 years of history and reflect the sweeping changes in language, culture, and identity in the region.

Saturday Sampler tours are free and open to all visitors. If you are a person with a disability who requires an accommodation to attend this tour, please contact the education office (734-647-4167) at least two weeks in advance. We ask for advance notice as some accommodations may require more time for the university to arrange.
