American Mah-Jongg for the Novice
Don’t know your Bam from your Crak?
Don’t know your Bam from your Crak? Then come learn American Mah-Jongg. American Mah-Jongg is a fascinating and rewarding game of skill and chance. It was originally brought to this country in the 1920s by Standard Oil executive Joseph Babcock, who rewrote and simplified the rules, forever distinguishing the game from the traditional version. If you have wanted to learn to play American Mah-Jongg or are just curious about the game, this is the course for you. You will learn to recognize the tiles, read and understand the “hands”, and practice playing with ongoing review and support. The course is taught by Miriam Shaw, an expert player of many years’ experience. The purchase of a current Mah-Jongg card is included in the class price. Classes run on Mondays from March 9 through 30.
